This description of "battered" looking intrigues me! I would think that the slide would only have a vertical wear streak, on the tangent line with the carburetor bore. If the slide has chatter spots (battered) then it must be cause from rapped oscillations while the engine is trying to remain at a constant speed. The vacuum is pulsating for some strange reason and rattling the slide??? Is this the reason for slide failure? Am I on to something? Help. Please answer with your thoughts.
